Hope for the Unemployed

Yay, new song for listening! ... but this song has given me so much trouble it's retarded. Recording and then mixing it down I had problems, and even just posting the damn song I had problems. The song is called "Hope for the Unemployed". I wrote it a little ways back, but changed it around recently. I actually posted an older recording of this song about two months ago but pulled it that same day because I didn't like the recording. But, here it is again! You can listen to it by going to my "Myspace" page, because due to technical difficulties I could NOT post it on the soundsauce page (every time I did it would play at about half the speed and I sounded like a monster). This is also, I guess, time to link my myspace page. It's still really underdeveloped but there is a neat shot of my and my guitar there along with a cool back ground!

So you can listen to it by going to my myspace page, www.myspace.com/simonstewartmusic

Feel free to go to the "my music" tab on the right, but there will be no new songs, but please listen to old ones!

Hope you like the new one.

Guitar of the day: 2006 Gibson SJ-200 (BR)

I look at guitars all the time online. Mostly just to see and learn about different ones I'm interested in. I think I'm going to start sharing certain guitars that stand out to me when I find them. Plus, It'll make me update my blog more often.

Today's Guitar is a 2006 Gibson SJ-200, Western Classic remake, made with Brazilian Rosewood back and sides:

I found it on ebay. The look of this guitar is killer. It's elegant and styled very vintagey. The reason that this guitar stands out to me is because it is my favourite guitar body style and because it is made with Brazilian Rosewood. The history of this wood is really interesting, but I'm going to talk about that in my next update tonight. This guitar is priced high but fair for what it is. I'm curious to know what the kind of person who affords this is like.

The Grass Hopper

It's been a while since I've posted any music, so I went through my computer and found a song that I recorded in May. It's call The Grass Hopper.

When I was in Florida in April I was sitting outside and there were these birds running around all over place catching these grass hoppers. It was strange. I was sitting with my guitar so I decided to write some music about it. In May I recorded it after going to the music store and picking up a strange grass hopper percussion thingy that is supposed to sound like a cricket.

Anyways, you can hear it by going HERE, or by clicking that "My Music" icon on the right.

I need to find a really good drummer!

This week I got the feeling that I've hit the point in my life where I start degrading. I've been taking these pills for my hand, ... but that's getting ahead of myself. I was having problems with my hand (still have it though its getting better), pretty much all of the possibilities were problems I would never see having for quite some time, ... like arthritis, muscle allergies like my father, etc. My hand is pretty important to my guitar playing, so this problem made me very worried. After going to the doctors I got anti-inflammatory pills, ... these are some serious pills, and are right now making my insides upset. After reading up on these pills: "The risk of death as a result of use of NSAIDs is 1 in 10,000 for young adults aged 16-45."[1], although I'm hoping that's from prolonged usage. Also, because I'm celiac, I have increased chances of developing intestinal cancer. It's in learning these things that makes me feel this way, I really shouldn't.

On a slightly better note, I've been recording things but nothing I want to post. It's been a while since I did, and I should post a song again, but I just don't feel that my recordings are good enough. ... Little mistakes, places where I'm slightly off beat, or missed a note, etc. I really wanted to have 5 good recordings before the end of the year but I don't know if that's going to happen. I had 5 songs I really liked, but in practicing them so much I've lost interest in them. I'm going to record again this weekend, ... hopefully something good happens with them. ... my drumming skills are falling short of the skill level I want in my songs.

Sorry for a poorly written post.

Drink Lipton Hot Tea!

Ever notice how Lindt Lindor chocolate looks like little delicious death-stars?

My new guitar is so amazing! I am really happy with it, the downside is that I don't going to the music store will be as much fun. ... still fun though, it always is.

I've been having problems with my right hand lately ... I'm a bit worried and hope it's just due to playing guitar too much, :s I need to slow down a bit, but I can't.

Watching T.V. on the Internet is great, I can watch the O.C. and many other shows whenever I want to. Just go to a website of a station and you'll probably find it.

Bee's in my Brain!

Hello,

I am sorry about the lack of contact the last week and a bit. For some reason it's been kinda hectic. I got a new recording toy, and bought a guitar! Guitar will arrive next week, and I am poor again. It's a beautiful guitar, I never expected to own this type of guitar because the model was out of my price range, but I found a pretty sweet deal on it. As far as my music goes, I'm working on recording. I'm trying to get a more professional sound, everything I've posted so far has just been idea's, recording took the back burner. It's cold out.

Here's a pic from my cottage, I was up there last weekend.
