Bones

After spending a few weeks working on a few songs ... in a matter of two days I (well at this current moment) satisfiably wrote and recorded a completely new song. The reason I like this song is because: a) I feel that I was able to pass on 80% of the feeling I was going for with the song and b) I think the word play is kinda clever.

The song is called Bones and I was trying to pass on a older, stale, dry, and dark feeling to the song.

Now here's the catch! The place where I post my music is down right now but I'm going to still link to my sound-sauce page because I will upload it there once it is up and running again (hoping tomorrow), also I will replace the "Dragged Through These Days" song on my myspace page with this one so it can be heard hopefully tomorrow (if some one thinks that I should have "Dragged Through These Days" song instead because it's better, please let me know).

Comments are appreciated.

Here it is again, to hear Bones click here, uploaded as soon as possible, or hear on my myspace page, OR click the big "My Music" button on the right!

Woosh.

UPDATE: Song uploaded sucessfully to sound sauce page!

My Diary of Events Between 10:24 and Bedtime.

After walking in to a house that smells like stale tobacco, and after going downstairs to bitch and the guys downstairs for smoking in the house, regardless if its hookah or not, I put on a pot of amazing raspberry black tea. Sat down in front of my computer and decided on my update for today.

10:28. get a relaxing, happier atmosphere by putting on John Mayer's new album and opening the window.

10:30. get out reading material for my elective (Aesthetics and Criticism of Music), quiz on Tuesday.

10:33. oh man, this tea is amazing ... screw guitar, new favourite hobby is drinking this tea and eating chocolate.

10:47. passive aggressiveness is a shitty disease, as well as moronity ... if it's a real word.

10:55. today's episode of Planet Earth II was pretty good, ... not as good as some of the others, IN FACT, this one was more brutal than usual, as if the show is aiming for a more aggressive, real life, approach. Did you know that in desperation, lionesses (because only the females hunt) will take down an elephant.

11:20. this John Mayer album is pretty good, it feels kinda like "John Mayer plays songs resembling his favourite influences". You can hear resemblances of Prince, Jack Johnson, Bob Seger, Stevie Ray Vaughan, maybe a bit of Jason Mraz (grossss), etc. I really like the "Vultures" song, it seems fitting lately.

11:27. Galileo Galilei's father Vincenzo Galilei was "a fine lutenist", and a person who "questioned the contrapuntal practice of his day" (regarding the current state of the music of his time, ... he was not a fan).

11.31. If John Mayer's father is really like he says he is in the song "stop this train", then he sounds like a pretty cool dad.

11:35. ... hehehe Greek Island of Lesbos.

12:02. If you like bands like Stars, Broken Social Scene, etc, check out Memphis.

12:05. Need to start looking for co-op / regular job for the summer. Any suggestions?

12:06. Night shower time!

12:28. Sorry for no new song, I am working on some though. I've been practicing with my loop pedal for the most part.

12:39. Time for bed, ... early class tomorrow.

Baby Sea Turtles & Living In My Comfy Head

My Favourite T.V. show is back on! The BBC documentary "Planet Earth" has returned with part 2 and 4 new episodes. It's exciting, and on Sundays on the CBC at 7:00 pm. Today's episode was kinda sad, but still awesome.

I've slowly began settling into my new place, which I was worried wasn't going to happen. This means that my desire to write music has come back, as well as some drive to do homework. I've began working on some new songs, as well as finishing some old ones. I want to write a series of songs based on a single theme that's in my head, but I'm finding getting the energy to dive in difficult, although I feel it may happen soon. I'm learning that I really enjoy isolation, it makes me live more in my head in turn helping me get out these ideas. So anyways ... I hope that I can start posting some cool music soon.

Sunday 7:00 !!!

Country Roads II (Now with drums)

After having the drums for 3 months I finally have a recording with them in it!
I wanted to hear how my "Country Roads" song would sound with drums in it so I played the song, thought about some good beats to go with it, recorded the drums, and then re-recorded the guitar.

I think its cool, you can hear it here! or click the big "My Music" icon on the right.

I have a few other songs with drums in them too that I will hopefully post soon (including my holiday song :S).

I did some recording today, but forgot to finish it up tonight like I wanted! I will post the song either tomorrow or Tuesday. I've been busy studying ... weeeee.

I'm up to the 19th spot on the soundsauce webpage, and I'll post a longer post when I upload the song!

Uh Those are my Legs

Happy Marriage day to Sarah and Wayne. They may think they are all super smart being in the Caribbean in the winter, but the jokes on them, it was 8 today!
