Sonata in Eb minor

It's been a while since I've posted anything. In my defence I've been pretty busy with midterm's and reading week. just to update, I'm back from my trip to Florida and school starts tomorrow.

Yesterday while I was sitting around at home I sat down at the piano and was just playing around with an idea and came up with a creepy little piece that I thought would be an alright song to post. Especially since I've posted nothing in a while. I didn't have any recording equipment with me except for my little mp3 player so I recorded it on that, so quality is not that great ... it's adequate? ... I dunno, I kinda like the idea, needs to be put together a bit better.

You can hear my sonata by clicking this link! or by going to the "My Music" icon on the right.

I'll post pictures from my trip later.

Travel Tips!

If you wear contacts and forgot to pack shaving cream, saline solution can make a pretty comfortable, although not very close, shave!

... today I took my family out to dinner to thank them for letting me stay with them. We ended up at this place with one of the worst servers I've ever had. I wanted a nice piece of fish, so I ordered the Mahi Mahi platter, and I asked for it blackened because I wanted spicy burnt fish. After almost 40min of waiting I get this huge plate with a small piece of almost rare fish, and half a platter of breaded shrimp! ... I can't eat breaded shrimp, and this wasn't posted on the menu at all. ... the meal wasn't that great at service horrible ... I tipped low.

Getting Warmer

Hi,

I'm removing the soundsauce player from my blog. I'm slowly losing ground on the soundsauce top 20 list. I need to get more plays, and it seems that it only counts the plays from the website directly.

I went to music shop today, ... it didn't compare to the long and mcquades back home, or even the smaller pongetti style ones.

I've been working on my website. Check it out! www.simonstewart.ca ! Because I have a very basic (aka free) webhosting service right now there are ads at the top, these will disappear when I upgrade my account.

Wrediculously Windy

Hello, I'm writing this from where I am staying in Florida. So picture myself hiding in a palm tree avoiding alligators and manatees. Midterm week is over, finally, although I still haven't really felt it yet. It's difficult to look back and be thankful that's over, instead it feels like a new segment of my life has started. Because of this, I don't really have any feeling of relief, just the knowledge that this new segment starts with no midterms.

Things I have noticed about Florida that I can't really get on board with.

1. There are no small independent music instrument stores. Only huge, massive, walmarty style ones, placed so far apart that it takes about an hour to go from one to the other. I wonder if it's because less people here are into this style of entertainment and development, I hope not.

2. There are no massive grocery stores, to the point that you wonder what the hell everyone is eating? ... until you see the TGIF's and Olive Gardens everywhere. The closest thing that I have seen to the massive sobey's and zehrs' of back home are the walmart superstores, but they can't even compare. It's mind blowing. The main grocery store is called publix, it is roughly the size of a small food basics or no frills, and its a 10 min drive from one to the other. Back home I'm pretty sure I could drive 10 min and pass 3 massive grocery stores, in fact I can think of a route. I give Canada a thumbs up on this one, if we are going to have a massive store, I'm glad its for delicious non-lazy, more likely good for you food, instead of Ford and Dodge trucks.

3. Some people have lame attitudes.

... That's all I have for now. I may update some more times while I'm here, I'm hoping to do a lot of relaxing and thinking in the sun. ...

Just Like a Bee

Sorry that I missed the post last week. I've been busy, in fact, I've entered my midterm week. 1 midterm a day until Friday. You may have noticed that now you can listen to my music on my blog! This is a new feature from Soundsauce, I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it or not.

I recently got the new Deftones Album, and it's amazing! Very very dark. It made me think of 8-9 years ago when this style of music was more of a mass popular style of music. Now I think our society is more in tune with whats happening with our environment and world societies. This type of music has an apocalyptic feeling to it, so I think it's good that the music style missed the mark a bit, ... listening to just this album has an ominous feeling to it, too much could be too much. In my opinion I think this album is better then most of that music back then, and I really recommend checking it out. If you check out their producers myspace, by clicking this link, you can hear some songs off the new album. I recommend "Cherry Waves" to truly grasp the Deftones feel, or if it's a bit too heavy, they do a cover of the Cars song "Drive", which is also on the myspace page.

Planet Earth was amazing today! It focused on season forests, so felt really close to home. I also love trees and this had tonnes of them. One of the best parts was this part about mandarin ducklings. Please click this link to watch it!!! it is impossible not to fall in love with this.

Not much new, no time to record songs, busy. Reading week is coming up and I was looking forward to spending an entire week with my music, ... but now an opportunity may have come up to go to Florida for it, and I may take it. Because I've lived, and visited several times, one location in Florida it does have a slightly "home-ish" feeling to it, I really like visiting. ... still debating the choices.
